Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi meets with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif on 22 Feb. 2026. Presidency


CAIRO – 22 February 2026: President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Sunday stressed the need to focus on education quality and keep pace with the latest advances in programming and artificial intelligence, ensuring their availability to students in line with international standards.


The directive came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif, according to the presidential spokesman.


The education minister outlined the ministry’s efforts to introduce modern technology into school curricula, including teaching programming and AI in cooperation with Japan, one of the world’s leading countries in this field.


Upgrading Technical Education


The meeting also reviewed procedures for distributing tablets to technical education students, teaching AI and programming curricula, and efforts to transform technical education into an internationally aligned system through cooperation with several countries, foremost among them Italy.


Under the plan, 103 technical schools will be upgraded and enter service at the start of the next academic year, while negotiations are ongoing with the British side to establish 100 new technical schools.


El-Sisi stressed the importance of exerting maximum effort to upgrade the scientific and professional level of technical education graduates to meet the growing needs of the labor market.


Boosting Digital Finance Skills


Moreover, the meeting reviewed efforts to equip students with financial digital skills and the implementation status of the digital and financial literacy protocol signed between the ministry and the Financial Regulatory Authority.


The initiative aims to instill financial awareness among students from an early age, equip them with practical skills in money management and project financing, and protect them from illegal financial practices.


The president emphasized the need to unify the efforts of national institutions concerned with education and financial oversight to build an aware generation capable of contributing to a knowledge-based digital economy driven by innovation.


Reading, Writing


The meeting also reviewed the ministry’s efforts to develop students’ reading and writing skills, with the president stressing the importance of mastering the Arabic language and motivating students to excel in it.


Thanaweya Amma


Separately, officials reviewed preparations for the 2025/2026 exams of Thanaweya Amma (Grade 12 of national education) and measures to govern the examination system and ensure its integrity.


The president stressed the importance of applying deterrent penalties against anyone proven to have violated the system to guarantee equal opportunities among students and preserve the credibility of results.


Enhancing Human Resources


The spokesman added that the meeting also discussed efforts to enhance human resources, including proposals to qualify and train school staff, starting with 100 schools in cooperation with a Japanese university.


Discussions also covered expanding partnerships with friendly countries in the fields of general and technical education.
