‘Connected Worker’ Software Improves Training
Based in San Marcos, CA, Hunter Industries manufactures irrigation and outdoor lighting equipment for residential, commercial, agricultural and golf course applications.
The company was founded in 1981 by engineer and inventor Edwin Hunter and his son, Paul, to produce a compact, pop-up landscape sprinkler called the PGP Rotor, a durable, gear-driven model that was quieter, more efficient and more precise than other sprinklers of its time.
Today, the company is run by Edwin’s grandson, Greg Hunter. Offering more than 1,000 products, Hunter Industries continues to manufacture rotor sprinklers, as well as spray sprinklers, valves, irrigation controllers and weather sensors. The company holds more than 250 patents and 40 trademarks, and it conducts business in 125 countries.
Hunter Industries operates assembly plants in San Marcos, as well as Tijuana, Mexico. It also maintains offices in China. In 2016, the Center for Executive Excellence, a leadership development organization, recognized Hunter Industries as one of 12 companies that has excelled in promoting a successful business culture.

With so many different products to make, changeover time was becoming an issue, particularly in the injection molding and extrusion departments. To solve the problem, Hunter Industries implemented Augmentir, a connected worker software platform from Augmentir Inc.
