Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Education has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer free digital skills training and certification to students and educators across Nigeria’s higher institutions.

The Ministry announced this on its official X handle, in accordance with the Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda to increase access to 21st-century skills.

According to the Ministry, the programme will concentrate on modern digital skills such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning, among others.

“The programme will be rolled out to all federal, state, and private tertiary institutions and successfully applicants on completion get free certifications from the Ministry and AWS.”

The Ministry confirmed that implementation is already underway in 43 federal universities and polytechnics.

According to the ministry, more schools will continue to participate as the program expands.

“We are calling on school administrators to nominate their coordinators before the deadline by or before Friday 19th July 2025, 5 PM Prompt,” the ministry stated.

To enrol, interested institutions are expected to complete the official nomination form through Google Form Link.

The partnership aligns with the AWS plan to bridge the gap in global digital skills. A 2023 research by the company also revealed that 30 to 45% of jobs in Nigeria will require digital skills by 2030 highlighting the need to build more capacity in digital skills.
