Two school girls have been working hard over the summer holidays to raise money for the GSPCA and other local good causes.

Jasmine and Robyn make bracelets which they have previously given to Les Bourgs Hospice and Health Connections to sell.

The pair recently visited the GSPCA headquarters in St Andrews to donate some of their bracelets to the charity so it can sell them at its events this summer too. The money raised at those events, including the proceeds from selling the bracelets, will all go towards helping animals in Guernsey.

The GSPCA is currently fundraising for its ‘Big Build Appeal’ to pay for the redevelopment of its facilities.

GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said he was really thrilled to receive a visit from Jasmine and Robyn who wanted to help.

He described the 11-year-olds as “kind hearted supporters” who had “decided to do something special” for the GSPCA ‘Big Build Appeal’.

“At the GSPCA we have to say a very special thank you to two 11-year-old girls called Jasmine and Robyn,” he said

“They have been up with specially home made bracelets for us to sell at the GSPCA and our events to help raise funds for our animal care and rescue work as well as our BIG BUILD.

“The bracelets are amazing and have been selling fast and the young ladies have offered to make bespoke bracelets with pets names on them if requested at the GSPCA. We can pass the details on and arrange it admin@gspca.org.gg .”

Both Jasmine and Robyn are pet lovers themselves said Mr Byrne, who learned that between them they own dogs, cats, chickens, and fish.

The girls said it was Jasmine’s idea to start raising money for charity by selling bracelets after she saw how many bracelets Robyn had made.

They have paid for all the beads, charms, strings, and packaging themselves out of their pocket money.

Each bracelet takes around five minutes to make, and they can do up to 50 in a week.

The girls donate the bracelets to the charities to sell and they do not ask for any money back meaning the charities can set the sale price and keep 100% of the money paid for them.

“There are always lots of ways to support our work and we are so thankful to everyone that supports all that we do,” said Mr Byrne.

“All that know Jasmine and Robyn can be super proud of them as we are so grateful to their generosity.”

“With so many upcoming events, watch out to see us and the bracelets out and about!”
