Coca-Cola Curaçao Launches Free Digital Training Program for Small Business Owners: “Growing Together”
WILLEMSTAD – In a major initiative to support the local business community, Curaçao Beverage Bottling Company – better known as Coca-Cola Curaçao – has officially launched the “Growing Together” digital training program. The launch was held during a joint press conference with the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), where the program was unveiled as a free, fully online platform designed to empower small business owners across the island.
Funded by The Coca-Cola Foundation, the program offers free access to practical training modules aimed at helping owners of minimarkets, restaurants, salons, and other small businesses strengthen their entrepreneurial skills.
A Community-Focused Investment in the Future
At the launch event, Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Middelhof, emphasized the significance of Coca-Cola’s contribution:
“For many years, Coca-Cola has played an important economic role in our island—not just as a global brand but especially as a local producer. We’re proud that these beverages are bottled here in Curaçao. Through local production, sustainable initiatives, and social involvement, Coca-Cola continues to show real leadership.”
Flexible and Accessible for Everyone
Andrew Pinedo, Managing Director of Coca-Cola Curaçao, explained that the program was developed with small businesses in mind:
“We recognize that small shops and family-run businesses are vital to our local economy. This training was created to help them become more resilient by strengthening key areas like financial stability, customer service, business management, and digital skills.”
The program consists of four short modules (total duration approximately 90 minutes), with videos, infographics, and real-time support from dedicated tutors via WhatsApp. The course is available in English and Mandarin, and participants receive a certificate of completion, along with access to exclusive raffles and promotions.
According to Myrthe George-Verhulst, Marketing & PACS Manager at Coca-Cola Curaçao:
“This program is for any small business owner on the island. Whether you run a snack bar, a beauty salon, a bakery, or you’re just getting started, ‘Growing Together’ is for you. We want to equip participants with practical tools to grow their business, build confidence, and contribute to a stronger community.”
Regional and Multicultural Collaboration
A notable guest at the event was Mr. Wang Fanfu, Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, who highlighted the cross-cultural importance of the initiative:
“It’s encouraging to see this kind of sincere cooperation that builds mutual understanding between cultures. In a world filled with uncertainty, initiatives like this are more important than ever to strengthen dialogue and shared growth.”
Representatives of local organizations also voiced their support. Noraima Elgelhart of ADECK expressed appreciation for the program’s local launch and its value to the community. Riglène Cristina from Mi Negoshi added:
“Empowerment goes beyond just knowledge. It’s about giving business owners the tools, guidance, and confidence to grow. This initiative turns learning into action and supports our mission to help local entrepreneurs thrive.”
