Ukwuani Local Government Council in Delta State has commenced registration for a free digital skills training and empowerment programme targeted at 200 indigenes and residents of the area.

The initiative, which is open to participants of all ages, is part of efforts by the council to equip citizens with relevant digital and entrepreneurial skills to enhance productivity, employment opportunities, and self-reliance in today’s technology-driven economy.

According to information made available by the council, interested applicants are to visit the Ukwuani Local Government Council Secretariat to obtain application forms at the Office of the Secretary to the Local Government.

The programme is scheduled to commence on Monday, March 30, 2026, while registration will close on Friday, April 10, 2026.

A breakdown of the courses shows a wide range of practical and in-demand training areas, including mobile phone repair engineering (hardware and software), computer hardware and networking, ICT and digital skills, software and web development, as well as emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Other components of the training include entrepreneurship development and business and financial literacy, aimed at preparing participants not only for technical roles but also for business creation and financial independence.

The council stated that participants would receive hands-on training in areas such as web development, UI/UX basics, graphic design, content creation, and video editing, alongside foundational knowledge in AI applications for business and productivity.

In addition to free training, the programme offers incentives including laptops and startup gadgets for outstanding participants, as well as internship and mentorship opportunities. Successful trainees will also receive certificates upon completion.

Speaking on the initiative, the executive Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government Chairman, Possible Ajede noted that the programme reflects a commitment to youth empowerment and capacity building, adding that it aligns with broader efforts to reduce unemployment and stimulate economic growth at the grassroots level.

Training will be held at the Ukwuani Local Government ICT Centre located within the council secretariat.
