Do you have questions about your tablet, laptop or phone? Are you wondering about things like how to store family pictures, organize your inbox or create a safe password?

If so, you may want to attend the “Digital Skills Drop-in Sessions” currently being held each week by the Campbell River Seniors Network at the Campbell River Library.

The goal is to help people understand how to use their devices for what they need to do in their everyday lives and how to feel safe online in a safe and welcoming setting. The sessions provide both one-on-one and group interactions and are run mainly by volunteers.

Program coordinator Mary Catherine Williams says user manuals for cell phones, computers and tablets don’t come with our devices.

“This information is available on the internet, and it’s crucial to make sure folks are using trusted sources,” she said. “We want participants to understand that it is important to prioritize learning the things they most need to know and encourage them not worry too much about the rest.”

The sessions are geared towards seniors, but everyone is welcome to attend. They take place on Tuesday afternoons between 2 and 3 p.m. at the Campbell River Library.

Three workshops of special interest will be presented in March 2026, all on Tuesdays from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome, but preregistration is required by emailing crseniorsnetwork@gmail.ca or calling 250-703-6135. The workshops are: “Artificial Intelligence” on March 3, presented by Erika Anderson, “Frauds and Scams” on March 10, presented by a local member of the RCMP, and “More than books – using our Digital Library” on March 24, presented by VIRL Librarian Beau Driedger.

Organizers are also looking for volunteers to help the project continue. If you would like to help or you would like more information about the volunteer positions, please contact mmseniorsnetwork@gmail.com for details. Our world is rapidly changing, and we all need support to keep up with the digital and technological tools that will help us access services and be informed.

The Campbell River Seniors Network recognizes and appreciates project funding from the New Horizons for Seniors Program, collaboration with Vancouver Island Regional Library, Immigrant Welcome Centre, and ongoing support from the city of Campbell River.
