How Huawei Surpassed its Global Digital Inclusion Target
“Connecting the rural and underserved communities requires innovative business models, inclusivity and the effective use of communication resources as well as community engagement, and sustained investment in local capacity,” he said.
“I applaud Huawei’s commitment to universal and meaningful connectivity and I am proud of our strong and successful partnership.”
From rural innovation to digital empowerment
Huawei’s commitment to inclusive connectivity has been complemented by its focus on digital skills training.
Jeff Wang, President of Huawei Public Affairs and Communications, explained that “digital inclusion rests on two pillars: inclusive connectivity and digital skills empowerment”.
To close the skills gap, Huawei has been working with governments and partner organisations to reach students, women, the elderly and rural youth.
Jeff says the company’s strategy centres on three areas – expanding digital access, offering training and developing STEM curricula.
