Imperial Valley Business Resource Center to host digital literacy event | Announcements
EL CENTRO— The Imperial Regional Alliance’s Imperial Valley Business Resource Center will host an invitation-only digital literacy event on Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. at the El Centro Public Library.
The workshop aims to equip community members with essential digital skills and promote safe, confident engagement online. It is part of the Southern Border Broadband Consortium, a joint initiative by the Imperial Regional Alliance and the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation to advance digital equity and expand broadband access across the region.
Presentations will cover internet safety, identifying online scams, and other topics to help participants navigate the digital world. A guest speaker from AT&T will highlight the company’s partnership with Human-I-T and the Imperial Regional Alliance to provide 50 refurbished laptops to pre-selected residents, supporting a broader effort to bridge the digital divide. Media are invited to photograph and film the laptop distribution.
Holiday refreshments will be served to create a welcoming environment for learning and community engagement. Attendance is free but limited to invited participants identified through local nonprofit organizations that serve residents throughout the Imperial Valley.
