IU marks closing of ‘Digital Skills for Student Training Programme’

ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Kushtia, June 29, 2025 (BSS) – The closing ceremony of the ‘Digital Skills for Student Training Programme’ under the Enhancing Digital Government and Economy (EDGE) project, implemented by the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), was held today at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized the event at the Ibn Sina Science Building this morning.
Islamic University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Yeaqub Ali and Treasurer Prof Dr Jahangir Alam were present as special guests. Prof Dr Munjurul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, also graced the occasion.
Prof Dr Robiul Hoque, Chairman of the department, presided over the programme, while Prof Dr Farukuzzaman Khan coordinated it.
The event began with recitations from religious scriptures, followed by welcoming guests with flowers and distribution of certificates among the successful trainees.
A total of 1,200 students from various departments and educational institutions near Kushtia district enrolled in the programme. Among them, 978 successfully completed the course and received certificates.
In his speech, Prof Dr Md Robiul Hoque congratulated the participants for their dedication and achievement. He expressed hope that the knowledge and skills they gained would significantly benefit their academic and professional development.
Addressing the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah highlighted the importance of skill development. He said, “I always emphasize skill development in any motivational discussion. Information is the first step toward understanding. When processed, information becomes knowledge, and applying that knowledge effectively requires skills. The more we build our skill capacity, the more empowered we become.”
