Spectrum recently presented the East Athens Development Corporation with a check for $50,000 as part of the company’s $30 million initiative to revitalize local community centers and job training program.

The EADC plans to use the money to provide digital skills job training to residents in Athens, according to Spectrum.

The organization is “deeply honored and grateful to be selected for this recognition by Spectrum,” Fred Smith, executive director of EADC, said in a statement released with the announcement.

Smith said the training support will help those entering the workforce.

The donation from Spectrum also received gratitude from Dr. Diane E. Dunston, who chairs the board of director for the corporation, and from Georgia State Sen. Frank Ginn.

Rahman Khan, group vice president for Spectrum, also issued a statement saying “the long-term partnership we have with East Athens Development Corporation will make a real difference in the lives of local residents by giving them the skills, tools and updated facilities they need to improve their economic condition.”
