Camosun College is helping transform technical education in Kenya by introducing digital learning and online education to Kenya’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

This initiative, Camosun said in a news release, is set to open opportunities for young people – especially women, girls, and vulnerable populations – to gain skills in digitization.

Camosun is partnering with Algonquin College, Georgian College, and Kenyan institutions to develop sustainable capacity for high-quality online and blended learning programs.

Using a “train-the-trainer” model, the partners will train up to 20 trainers from KSTVET with seven trainers travelling to Canada for advanced training while gaining hands-on experience with digital learning tools and methodologies. These trainers will then return to Kenya to train 96 instructors from partner institutions in 2026.

Camosun completed its first mission in November, training 20 master trainers across four other institutions in Nairobi.

“I learned so much from the diversity of the instructors,” said Camosun instructor Julia Grav. “This interdisciplinary opportunity highlighted how Colleges and Institutes Canada is advancing equity-driven education initiatives.”

“This project exemplifies the power of international collaboration,” added Camosun project manager Marius Langeland. “By sharing our expertise in online learning, we’re helping Kenyan institutions create flexible, inclusive education pathways.”
