WILBRAHAM, Mass. –  Spectrum is working to empower seniors in Hampden County with the digital skills needed to navigate today’s connected society. In partnership with the Wilbraham Senior Center, Spectrum hosted a workshop covering all angles of digital education. The event teaches seniors how to protect their online identity and information, how to use apps to access transportation, medical information or food and ways to stay connected online with family and friends.

“The people in the room, us seniors. We didn’t grow up with technology. We had to adapt to technology. For us, it’s a little more of the challenge,”  workshop attendee Maria Cacela said. “By learning more, we feel more confident when we use it.”

“We so appreciate Spectrum being here today because of the amount of scams that folks need to watch out for. Cybersecurity is very important. We are getting calls daily from folks who are receiving emails and things,” director of elder affairs in Wilbraham, Paula Dubord, said.

Spectrum is committed to supporting programs, education, and training in underserved communities across the company’s service area. Spectrum is owned by Charter Communications which also owns Spectrum News 1.
