The Flyers make more cuts today – FLYERS NITTY GRITTY
On September 27, 2025, the Flyers announced further reductions to their training camp roster, assigning prospects Jack Nesbitt (Center, 18) and Spencer Gill (Defenseman, 19) back to their respective junior teams.

This move brings the camp roster down to 40 players as the team continues evaluations ahead of the 2025-26 NHL season opener.
- Jack Nesbitt: Selected 12th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, Nesbitt impressed early in camp with his size (6’5, 185 lbs), defensive IQ, and forechecking ability. He recorded an assist in the Flyers’ Pre-Season opener against the New York Islanders on September 21, showcasing strong neutral-zone play. However, as an OHL standout with the Windsor Spitfires (64 points in 65 games last season), he’s returning to junior to continue development, likely aiming for a future bottom-six center role.
- Spencer Gill: A 2024 fifth-round pick (133rd overall), Gill signed a three-year entry-level contract in July 2025. The 6’3, 190-lb right-shot defenseman looked about NHL ready in camp, pairing well with veterans like Travis Sanheim and contributing solidly in the Islanders Pre-Season game. He’s heading back to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL.

These cuts follow earlier reductions on September 24, when the Flyers sent Matthew Gard, Luke Vlooswyk, and Andre Mondoux to juniors or released them. Nesbitt and Gill were among the junior players kept longer for extended evaluation, alongside Jett Luchanko.
