Tyrrell County Library to host free digital skills classes

Tyrrell County Public Library has announced the return of ENC Libraries’ Digital Link and Learn classes, beginning Friday, September 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. These free classes are designed to help community members build confidence and practical skills when using everyday technology.
The five-week series will guide participants through topics such as smartphone basics, iPads and hotspots, Microsoft Word and Excel, and Google Docs and Sheets. Classes are hands-on, beginner-friendly and aim to make technology more approachable for patrons of all ages.
“Digital literacy is essential in today’s world, and our goal is to give the community the tools they need to feel comfortable and capable using technology,” said Lynda J. Mastronardo, branch librarian. “From staying in touch with loved ones to applying for jobs, these skills make a big difference in everyday life.”
The schedule of classes is:
- Friday, Sept. 19– Smartphone Basics
- Friday, Sept. 26– Smartphone Intermediate
- Friday, Oct. 3– iPads and Hotspot Basics
- Friday, Oct. 10– Microsoft Word and Google Docs
- Friday, Oct. 17– Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
All classes will take place at Tyrrell County Library, located at 414 Main Street in Columbia. Space is limited and registration is required. Interested participants should call 252-796-3771 to reserve a spot.
“This program is part of ENC Libraries’ commitment to digital inclusion and community learning. By providing free, accessible training, the library continues to support lifelong learning and ensure all residents have the opportunity to succeed in a digital world,” stated the announcement from the library. “Tyrrell County Library is a branch of the Pettigrew Regional Library System and is committed to providing enriching educational programs that serve children, families, and the broader community.”
