UN Announces Establishment of Digital Centers for Computer Training for Girls in Kabul
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced that it has established digital centers in the districts of Estaalif and Musahi in Kabul province, aimed at teaching computer skills to girls.
On Saturday, January 24, marking International Education Day, the organization stated that these centers are equipped with computers, internet, specialized instructors, and a dedicated curriculum, enabling students to learn basic computer skills and online safety.
The United Nations added that by providing these facilities, 61 students and 23 teachers have learned digital skills for the first time at this location.
According to the report, 20 students received training at the Estaalif school, and 41 students participated in this training course at the Musahi district school.
This comes while, following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, extensive restrictions have been imposed on girls’ education, and now for more than four years, they have been deprived of attending school and university.
Coinciding with International Education Day, Richard Lindsey, the UK’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, has also called on the Taliban to reopen girls’ schools.
