Oak Hill Collaborate to celebrate Digital Inclusion Week
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Starting Monday, Oak Hill Collaborative will be celebrating the ninth annual Digital Inclusion Week.
It’s a week to recognize efforts to bridge America’s digital divide.
Oak Hill will be teaching 26 classes across Mahoning, Trumbull, and Ashtabula counties. Classes begin Monday, with a navigating medicare class at noon and a digital deliveries lesson at 5:30 p.m.
Organizers say it’s important to offer these classes because it’s needed in numerous workplaces today.
“92% of all jobs require digital skills. Over a third of the prospective employees don’t have that. So, even if you look at that market, that’s really important,” said Executive Director Patrick Kerrigan.
“We’ll have students who come in week after week after week wanting to practice these skills, wanting to learn new skills. Skills acquisition is so important for anybody who maybe is aging or wants to learn new skills, for individuals who are in the workforce and for individuals who just enjoy learning,” said Communications Coordinator Elizabeth Coss.
All classes are free, and no preregistration is required to attend.
