This partnership allows students to gain digital skills in a digital-first world.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem State University has received a $1 million investment from Adobe Inc. to expand digital equity, leadership development, and student success across campus, the university announced Monday.
The partnership, called Ram Powered: A Bold Investment in Leadership, Digital Empowerment, and Globally Minded Talent, aims to embed Adobe tools and training across disciplines, giving students not just degrees but digital skills, creative portfolios, and career-ready experience.
“Adobe’s partnership underscores what we’ve always believed at WSSU: that access to cutting-edge technology can unlock purpose, creativity, and opportunity for every student,” said Chancellor Bonita Brown. “We’re shaping future-ready Rams who will lead and innovate in a digital-first world.”
The $1 million investment will support initiatives spanning career development, faculty training in generative AI, residential learning hubs, undergraduate research, international programs, conferences, student retention efforts, sophomore-focused experiences, and the university endowment.
Kevan Turman, vice chancellor for University Advancement, said the funding strengthens WSSU’s mission to develop “globally minded, technologically fluent leaders who make a difference in their communities and the world.”
Among the initiatives, students will benefit from enhanced digital résumé and portfolio workshops, faculty will receive training on integrating AI into curriculum, and creative learning hubs will be established in residence halls to foster collaboration and innovation.
The partnership builds on WSSU’s national reputation for creative innovation and experiential learning, positioning the university as a leader in preparing students for a digital-first economy.
