Money from the pizzas sold at American Flatbread in Stowe will be sent to Golisano Children’s Hospital at UVM Health. They held a benefit bake with food, drinks and music.Flatbread partnered with Fiddlehead to feature their Mastermind Double IPA — 25% of the proceeds from ordering that drink go to the children’s hospital. This applies to both sides of Lake Champlain. If that product is sold in New York, earnings would go towards pediatric care there.Organizer of Thursday’s benefit bake, Rachael Harbender, says she chose to hold the fundraiser around the holidays because they knew they would have more people dining in.”In Stowe, especially right now, everyone’s gearing up for ski season,” Harbender said. “We’ve got an awesome season so far to start off. The holidays are really when folks start coming to town, and we see an uptick in tourism. That’s why we chose this date for the benefit bake and to team up with Fiddlehead and bring in a full band to create a higher energy and really just rally around this cause.”The event wrapped at 9 p.m. Thursday.The fundraiser comes just a day after the announcement that the American Academy of Pediatrics would be losing millions of dollars in federal funding after it was canceled by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.The Department of Health is ending seven grants nationally that primarily funded work on adolescent health and mental health. Federal officials say these grants did not align with the Trump Administration’s missions or priorities. The AAP has clashed with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F.
