BEAUFORT — A new community podcast studio is coming to the Lowcountry, made possible by a $7,500 grant from Sparklight’s Charitable Giving Fund. The grant, given to the Beaufort Digital Corridor Foundation in December 2025, will help launch a professionally equipped studio for residents, students, nonprofits and small businesses to highlight local voices and expand digital skills.

The funding is part of Sparklight’s recent grant cycle, during which the broadband communications provider distributed over $125,000 to 25 nonprofits across the communities it serves. The Charitable Giving Fund supports initiatives with lasting, local impact, from hunger relief to digital literacy.

Jess O’Brien, executive director of the Beaufort Digital Corridor and Beaufort Digital Corridor Foundation, said her organization is thankful for Sparklight’s partnership.

“By giving residents, small businesses, nonprofits and students access to professional tools and training, we’re lowering barriers to storytelling and participation in the digital economy,” O’Brien said. “Sparklight’s support allows us to build stronger connections across Beaufort by empowering people to share ideas, preserve local culture and tell the stories that matter most to our community.”

Since the 2020 launch of the Charitable Giving Fund, Sparklight has awarded over $1.2 million to over 275 nonprofits. As a broadband communications provider, Sparklight serves over 1 million business and residential customers across 24 states.

“At Sparklight, we believe strong communities are built through meaningful connections,” said Jane Shanley, Sparklight senior regional director, Southeast. “By investing in the Beaufort Digital Corridor Foundation’s community podcast studio, we’re helping strengthen community connections and expand opportunities across the Lowcountry.”
