AT&T, Compudopt donate 50 laptops to Door County families affected by digital divide
SEVASTOPOL, Wis. (WBAY) – AT&T and Compudopt donated 50 refurbished laptops to Door County families at an event at Sevastopol High School, the companies announced.
The donation
The laptops, funded by an AT&T contribution, were provided to the Door County Economic Development Corporation for distribution through two local organizations — Sunshine Resources and Help of Door County — to residents facing digital divide barriers.
“We’re grateful to AT&T for this generous laptop donation, which will make a real difference for Door County families and residents affected by the digital divide,” said Michelle Lawrie, executive director of the Door County Economic Development Corporation.
“In today’s world, reliable access to technology is essential for education, employment, and everyday life. These laptops will help ensure more people in our community have the tools they need to stay connected, build skills, and fully participate in our online society.”

Digital literacy resources
Following the laptop distribution, New North, Inc. provided digital literacy resources to recipients to help them build skills and navigate the internet.
“Access to a laptop is an important first step, but knowing how to use technology confidently is what helps open doors to new possibilities,” said Rebecca Deschane, vice president of talent development at New North, Inc.
“With these digital literacy resources, participants will gain practical skills to navigate the online world, access education and employment resources, and overcome digital barriers that too often limit opportunity for families and residents across our region.”

AT&T’s broader initiative
“At AT&T, we believe access to technology and the skills to use it confidently go hand in hand,” said Robyn Gruner, director of external affairs at AT&T Wisconsin.
“By donating these laptops and providing digital literacy resources, we’re helping Door County residents and families overcome digital barriers, build essential skills, and be connected in today’s online world. We’re proud to partner with local organizations to create more opportunity through connectivity and education.”
According to U.S. Census Bureau data, millions of people nationwide, including in Wisconsin, lack access to the internet or connected devices.
AT&T said it is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people connect to high-speed internet by 2030.
