To the editor:

I have been trying to raise money for a 14-piece life size Nativity. Mayor Bobby Smith has made arrangements that when it arrives, it could be placed in the Diamond Area of East Liverpool, near the beautiful Christmas tree that through the help of so many local residents we were able to obtain. The price of this Nativity is $12,800 including shipping from Christmas Night, Inc.

As of today we have $10,740 donated for the project, again from local people. However, to make sure we have the money so we can send the order to get the Nativity in time for this coming Christmas, we still need additional money.

I have contacted five ladies willing to go to the Diamond during the five days of holiday before Christmas to sit with children and tell them in person the true story from the Bible of the birth of Jesus. Chef Ray’s has agreed to furnish hot chocolate.

If you are willing to participate in this project, please contact the mayor’s office with your contribution at 126 West Sixth Street, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920. We still need $1,280 to purchase the Nativity.

I will be so grateful to you for your help because it will make this Christmas so fantastic. Thank you so very, very much.
