Madelyn Helling Library Offers Free Digital Skills Classes This Spring
NEVADA CITY, Calif. — The Madelyn Helling Library will host a series of free, beginner-friendly technology classes this spring to help community members build confidence and develop essential skills for navigating the digital world.
Held from 2 to 4 p.m. on select Thursdays, the four-part series is ideal for beginners or anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of everyday online tools in a supportive, hands-on environment.

“These classes are designed to meet people where they are,” said County Librarian Nick Wilczek. “Whether you’re brand new to technology or just looking to build confidence, we’re excited to provide a welcoming space for learning.”
Class Schedule
April 9 — Introduction to Social Media
Learn the basics of popular social media platforms, how to connect with friends and family, and tips for navigating these spaces safely.
April 23 — Introduction to Gmail
Get started with email by learning how to create, send and organize messages using Gmail.
May 7 — Introduction to Google Docs
Discover how to create, edit and share documents online using Google Docs, a free alternative to traditional word processing software.
May 21 — Staying Safe on the Web (Cybersecurity Course)
Learn practical strategies for protecting personal information, recognizing scams and browsing the internet securely.
Registration is required. Participants are encouraged to sign up in advance at nevadacountyca.libcal.com, as space is limited. Patrons may also call 530-470-2677 to register.
