
Mayor Ferdon honors BCSC 6th graders

COLUMBUS. Ind. – Mayor Mary Ferdon and the Columbus community recognized 262 Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) sixth-grade students on Tuesday for earning the Mayor’s Work Ethic Certificate.
To receive the Mayor’s Work Ethic Certificate, the students must demonstrate five employability skills and meet four other criteria throughout the school year.
The employability skills include perseverance, demonstrating service to others, a positive attitude, clear communication, and punctuality.
The other four criteria for students were to:
- Demonstrate academic readiness
- Achieve an attendance rate of 98% or higher
- Have no more than one discipline referral for the school year
- Complete a minimum of two hours of community service or volunteerism during the year
BCSC students who met all 9 requirements were honored by Columbus Mayor Ferdon and enjoyed a meal with their classmates from different schools.
