“Paint the Town Purple” in support of Alzheimer’s awareness – Daily Journal Online
Communities across St. Francois County will be draped in purple the week of June 21–28 as local businesses and organizations join the Alzheimer’s Association’s “Paint the Town Purple” campaign to raise awareness and funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
The annual initiative — embraced nationally and locally in Farmington, Park Hills, Desloge, and Bonne Terre — calls on residents, business owners, and community leaders to come together by decorating storefronts and homes in purple, sharing educational resources about dementia, and raising vital funds for care and research. The effort also supports the Mineral Area Walk to End Alzheimer’s, scheduled for September 27 at Mineral Area College.
The Park Hills-Leadington Chamber of Commerce is helping lead the charge, coordinating a friendly competition among businesses to see who can raise the most money. The winner will be announced on June 30, with participants encouraged to submit photos of their purple displays by June 25 via email to mcerwin@alz.org.
“Companies of all sizes can make a meaningful impact,” said campaign organizers. “This effort is not only about raising funds but also showing solidarity with the many individuals and families in our communities who are affected by Alzheimer’s.”
How to Participate
