Sage, a provider of accounting, financial, HR and payroll technology for small and mid-sized businesses, is celebrating a decade of impact through the Sage Foundation. Over the past 10 years, the Sage Foundation has raised 5 million USD and facilitated 1.3 million hours of volunteering globally for causes crucial to the many places Sage operates in – ranging from Vancouver, Canada and Atlanta, Georgia, to Cape Town, South Africa, and Bengaluru, India.

In the U.S. alone, Sage colleagues have volunteered more than 265,000 hours and raised over $1.8 million USD to support nonprofits and community programs across the country.

Since its founding in 2015, Sage Foundation has had a clear mission: to support the communities that Sage’s millions of small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers are such a vital part of. It has done so through three levers:

  • Sage Foundation has provided every colleague with five paid days per year to use their skills, time and effort to improve their communities.
  • Sage Foundation has fundraised for various causes across its global bases, such as helping earthquake victims in disaster-prone areas, or matching a colleague’s fundraising efforts for a charity close to their heart.
  • As part of its effort to empower SMBs across the world – who form 90% of the world’s businesses — Sage has donated or discounted product and software to non-profits to help them scale.

In late 2024, Sage Foundation announced a sharpened focus on two areas, allowing it to have the most impact by capitalizing on Sage’s already-existing capabilities:

  • Empower underserved small and medium businesses to advance a more sustainable world – through training, mentorship, grants and product support
  • Empower our communities, including young people, with the skills and technology they need to thrive in tomorrow’s world – through bootcamps and workshops focused on next-gen digital skills including AI

Helen Devanny, Vice President of Sage Foundation, says: “Reaching our 10-year anniversary is a testament to the passion and commitment of our colleagues, non-profit partners, and supporters — and shows what a critical role social impact can play within our communities. By focusing on underserved entrepreneurs and technology education, Sage Foundation is deepening its mission while also complementing Sage’s broader purpose, enabling us to scale our impact through our collective skills, expertise, and resources.”
