FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Kentucky State University is launching a new Certificate in Digital Communication, a five-course, 15-credit-hour program to help working professionals develop the skills needed to communicate effectively in today’s digital-first environment.

The certificate program provides practical training in areas such as digital media strategy, social media communication, multimedia storytelling, and digital content creation. Students will learn how to plan, produce, and evaluate communication across a range of digital platforms while building a portfolio of work that demonstrates their professional skills.

The Digital Communication Certificate can be completed in as little as three semesters, making it an accessible option for individuals seeking to enhance their professional credentials.

“This certificate reflects Kentucky State University’s commitment to providing a digital upgrade for the realities of modern communication and media,” said Dr. David L. Shabazz, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. “Digital communication skills are now essential in fields ranging from business and public relations to government, nonprofit work, as well as print and broadcast media. This program gives working professionals the opportunity to develop those skills in a focused, practical way.”

Faculty designed the program to serve professionals who want to strengthen their digital communication expertise without pursuing a full degree program. However, all five courses will count towards a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and journalism. Courses emphasize hands-on learning and the strategic use of digital tools to reach and engage audiences.

Enrollment for the Certificate in Digital Communication is now open. Courses are structured to fit alongside existing academic programs and professional schedules.
