Nigeria Strengthens Digital Education through NITDA-UBEC Collaboration
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing digital literacy within Nigeria’s education system, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’ which emphasizes education, health, and social investment.
As part of this initiative, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, led a delegation to meet with the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha Garba. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration to integrate digital literacy into Nigeria’s basic education curriculum.

This engagement builds on NITDA’s broader strategy of partnering with key educational institutions, including the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission (NUC), and the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), to embed digital skills development across all levels of learning.
To advance this goal, a joint committee has been formed to design and implement a roadmap for the effective inclusion of digital literacy within the basic education system. The ultimate aim is to equip young Nigerians with the foundational digital competencies needed to succeed in the 21st-century digital economy.
