At least 5,000 youths in Benue State are undergoing digital entrepreneurship training in a bid to enhance employability and stimulate small business growth.
The initiative, driven by House of Representatives hopeful, Alex Adingi, aimed at equipping young people in Buruku Local Government Area with practical digital and enterprise skills to enable them participate in the expanding digital economy.
Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) complex in Makurdi, Adingi said the programme, which commenced on Monday, focuses on building capacity in digital innovation, online business, and self-employment.

He noted that the intervention aimed at reducing unemployment by creating a pipeline of skilled youths capable of launching and sustaining small-scale enterprises.
Adingi also disclosed plans to strengthen human capital development through education, including the provision of laboratory equipment in four schools in partnership with a Chinese collaborator.
He added that the introduction of Mandarin language studies in the schools would improve students’ access to international scholarships and global opportunities.
Adingi noted that beyond digital training, there are ongoing agricultural investments, particularly in palm cultivation, as part of efforts to diversify income sources and boost local production.
According to him, expanding palm oil production could position Benue as a key player in the agro-processing value chain while creating jobs across rural communities.
He stressed that the combined focus on digital skills and agriculture reflects a wider strategy to drive inclusive economic growth and reduce poverty in the constituency.
