A top MAGA influencer, Emily Hart, has been unmasked as an AI creation at the hands of a 22-year-old aspiring orthopaedic surgeon from India.
Chatting to Wired, the young man, who gave the fake name Sam to avoid jeopardising his medical career and immigration status, used Google Gemini’s Nano Banana Pro to generate artificial pictures of the fake Trump supporter.
Sam first tried to raise funds for medical school through the creation of typical scantily-clad women. However, as Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, told him, “If you create a generic ‘hot girl,’ you’re competing with a million other models.”
In comparison, Sam sees the “MAGA/conservative niche” as a “cheat code” as “the conservative audience (especially older men in the US) often has higher disposable income and is more loyal.”
As a result, the young student began posting fake photos of the registered nurse he had come up with in January 2025, including photos of her ice fishing, drinking Coors Light, and at the rifle range.
Sam explained, “Every day I’d write something pro-Christian, pro-Second Amendment, pro-life, anti-abortion, anti-woke, and anti-immigration.”
He explained that the account “blew up” as “the algorithm loved it”, adding that “every Reel I posted was getting 3 million views, 5 million views, 10 million views.”
Sam made a few thousand dollars a month from the venture: “I was spending maybe 30 to 50 minutes of my day, and I was making good money for a medical student,” he explained.
The money came from the sale of MAGA-themed T-shirts, as well as an account on OnlyFans competitor Fanvue, where paid subscribers can access soft-porn AI-generated content.
He went on, “In India, even in professional jobs, you can’t make this amount of money. I haven’t seen any easier way to make money online.”
Sam tried the same tactic for the Democrat crowd, but had no luck. “Democrats know that it’s AI slop, so they don’t engage as much,” he explained.
Looking down on his target audience, he added, “The MAGA crowd is made up of dumb people—like, super dumb people. And they fall for it.”
Eventually, her profile on Instagram was taken down in February, due to “fraudulent” activity behind the scenes.
