Qatar deepens investment in digital skills, tech development
Doha, Qatar: As Qatar accelerates its journey toward a knowledge-based digital economy, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is reinforcing its commitment to developing future-ready talent through continuous digital learning and innovation.
In a post on its X platform, MCIT stated “In line with the Digital Agenda 2030, we continue to empower individuals through an integrated digital learning journey that builds skills, strengthens national capabilities, and prepares generations for an advanced digital future.”
From early learning to professional development, digital capabilities grow through an integrated journey that spans every stage. Through its initiative the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology continues to empower generations, preparing a generation to lead Qatar’s digital future.
The digital skills continue to evolve alongside technology and the changing world of work. Through Qatar Digital Academy, public sector professionals can access specialised training programmes and globally recognised certifications to strengthen their capabilities.
MCIT launched Qatar Digital Academy (QDA) to support digital transformation and lifelong learning. It enhances digital skills to prepare Qatar’s workforce for the digital economy, aligning with the Digital Agenda 2030.
QDA aims to empower individuals with cutting-edge digital competencies, promoting technological excellence and global competitiveness.
The post further noted that through the professional development program, NextGen, national talents gain practical experience with leading global technology companies.
The NextGen program is a national initiative by the Ministry designed to shape the next generation of digital leaders in Qatar. It reflects the Ministry’s long-term vision to empower talented individuals with the skills, knowledge, and global exposure needed to drive innovation and advance the ICT sector.
Through NextGen, the Ministry is investing in building a strong pool of qualified professionals who will help realise the goals of the Digital Agenda 2030 and accelerate the nation’s journey toward a competitive, knowledge-based digital economy.
It also highlighted the Studio5 initiative which equips the next generation with hand-on skills in creativity, coding and technology.
Studio 5 is a digital fabrication lab established by the Ministry, with the aim of nurturing the children and youth of Qatar by enhancing their scientific skills in the digital age. It offers cutting-edge technologies and practical experiences that bolster problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.
The post further stated that this is complemented by the Safe Space platform, which strengthens digital awareness and enables families and educators to foster a safe and responsible digital environment.
Safe Space is an initiative that aims to enhance Internet safety and digital awareness in Qatar. The initiative includes a platform that addresses various aspects of online safety, education, and awareness to create a safer and a secure digital environment for stakeholders and the public. The platform is designed to offer educational content on Internet safety topics.
It added that to support the structured development of skills, the Digital Skills Framework was introduced to empower individuals and organisations to assess their current capabilities, receive tailored training recommendations and follow clear learning pathways to strengthen their digital competencies.
The Digital Skills Framework initiative aims to enhance digital competencies for individuals and organisations and thereby support digital transformation in Qatar.
The framework is designed to establish a national standard for digital skills making it a key reference for talent acquisition and digital capability development. It ultimately prepares a skilled national workforce to meet the demands of the digital economy.
