Governor Jenniffer González Colón has made an agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide technology training for working class and entrepreneurs with no cost.

The Technological Skills Training Program offers several self-study learning paths, a certificate of completion more than 80 hours of training on artificial intelligence and cloud computing, and live training with experts.

“We are providing tools to our working class and our entrepreneurs. This unprecedented collaboration with the technology giant Amazon Web Services creates a Technology Training Program that will represent no cost to the government or citizens, but will offer significant benefits to our people. Puerto Rico is ready to take this leap into the future, and this joint effort with AWS is proof that we believe in the talent of our people and their ability to achieve excellence,” the governor said in a press release.

The program aligns with platform proposals aimed at strengthening education, integrating artificial intelligence training, and offering resident with modern, robust educational alternatives adapted to the challenges of the future.

“At AWS, we are committed to promoting the development of digital skills in Latin America. We are proud to announce this collaboration with the Government of Puerto Rico to provide free training in disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and cloud services to more than 50,000 people. This collaboration seeks to develop both technical and soft skills that boost employability, digital transformation, and contribute to Puerto Rico’s growth,” says Américo de Paula, AWS Director for Northern Latin America, and the Caribbean.

The first phase has a capacity for 50,000 participants, starting with students from the Puerto Rico Public Education System and exploring the development of online offerings as part of the academic goals of the University of Puerto Rico. This effort is also being extended to other sectors with specific training tailored to the needs of each area.

The only requirement to participate is internet access from a computer, tablet, or a cell phone.
