Medellín takes a key step: activating experienced talent. Horizontes Senior launches its training phase, moving from identifying capabilities to connecting them with real opportunities in the digital economy.

Ruta N is launching the training phase of Horizontes Senior, an initiative designed to activate experienced talent as a strategic asset for Medellín’s digital economy. Following a call that attracted 1,113 qualified applicants, 120 participants have been selected and are now beginning their development process.

The cohort shows a strong baseline: 67% of participants are at an intermediate level, 26.8% at a junior level, and 6.2% at a senior level. This allows the program to focus on advancing capabilities rather than covering foundational skills. Participants also demonstrate a high level of academic attainment: most hold professional degrees (369 applicants), followed by those with postgraduate specializations (169), and technical or technological backgrounds (over 300 combined).

From an employment perspective, the data is clear: approximately 70.5% of applicants were neither employed nor studying, reinforcing the program’s role in reactivating experienced talent within the economy.

Participation reflects gender balance, with 54.7% women and 45.3% men, and a strong geographic concentration—96.2% are based in the Aburrá Valley, primarily in Medellín (792 applicants), followed by municipalities such as Envigado, Bello, and Sabaneta.

In terms of diversity, 22% of participants identify as part of diverse populations (including conflict victims, ethnic groups, or individuals with disabilities), broadening the program’s social impact.

The training phase combines digital skills development with practical, workforce-oriented guidance, in partnership with platforms such as Platzi. It is further strengthened through mentorship, inspiration, and connections to the innovation ecosystem.

This stage marks a critical shift—from identifying talent to activating it. With these 120 participants, Horizontes Senior begins to deliver on its purpose: turning experience into an active asset by connecting capabilities with real opportunities in the digital economy.
