The Town of Kitty Hawk is partnering with College of The Albemarle (COA) to provide free drop-in Digital Literacy and Skills Training sessions for community members looking to build confidence using technology in everyday life.

Sessions will be held at Kitty Hawk Town Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on:

Participants may attend one session or all three. Participants are encouraged to bring their own device, though loaner devices will also be available.

The training sessions, led by Ommeni Richardson from COA, will cover a variety of practical technology skills, including:

Essential Computer Skills

  • Phone keyboard basics and logging in
  • Basic computer skills
  • Internet basics
  • Email
  • Windows 10/11
  • Mac OS

Essential Software Skills

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Google Docs

Using Technology in Daily Life

  • Social media
  • Information literacy
  • Career search skills
  • Cybersecurity
  • Digital footprint awareness
  • K-12 distance learning
